Flight credit that must depart from Europe to be valid
Hello everyone, I am seeking comments on your experience with the following:
I had an old one-way trip ROM-DFW that I had to cancel due to COVID politics.
I am now trying to use the flight credit to rebook DFW-MAD (round-trip), but was told by AA that this specific flight credit is only valid if my flight departs from Europe.
(It was issued in Euros and we tried to convert to $, but the ticket is coded as mandating an EU departure).
I called 4 times and got the same answer each time.
Thus, I am left with the undesirable options to either book two one-way tickets (much more expensive), or to book a single one-way (DFW-MAD) and then a round-trip (MAD-DFW-MAD) (slightly more expensive) and simply cancel the DFW-MAD segment upon my return to the USA.
Any advice on a better approach?
Thank you.
