You may only have a few glitches on the New York to Waterbury run.
- As you leave the Bronx into Westchester, over the river bridge there, if you are doing 75, you will 100% with certainy get a ticket, they are always patroling that area
- Through Stamford, Exit 7, there is construction, while they won't be working they may be enforcing the reduced speed limits
- Exit 14 in Norwalk always has traffic, but it will go away once you get past there
- Where 95 meets Rt 8 in Bridgeport is another strict enforcement area around exits 24 to 27. Don't speed through there.
- If you are going to Waterbury you should be fine from there, if you are going past Waterbury to Cheshire or beyond there may be some construction around the last Waterbury exit (26?) They may not be working, but may have lanes closed
- Also consider avoiding 95 in New York and CT, consider taking the Hutchinson Parkway in NY and the Merritt (Route 15) in Connecticut if you are in a passenger vehicle and not a moving van or something. Way less traffic, and a much prettier drive.
But no, I wouldn't expect any parade traffic at all, there have been many years where we have left the parade at that time (it ends at the beginning of it's route around then) and gotten home in record time.
Another cool thing, I just discovered last week - If you go to wnbc.com and click on traffic, you can tell it what routes you are taking, and when you will be on them, and it will send e-mail alerts to your phone specific for where you are driving. Not sure if it will cover your entire trip or just in the NY area, but it's fairly cool.
