Masks are still required. On my recent flights LAX-NRT and NRT-SIN, every hour or so a FA would walk by with a laminated placard with a sign reminding you to wear your mask. Additionally, if you weren't, they would say something. I am flying tomorrow and will report back.
The pre-departure email (today) says the following
■マスクのご着用
新型コロナウイルス感染症をはじめとした感染症の拡大防止のため、また、お客さま同士のご不安の解消のため、空港・航空機内において、マスクなど、鼻と口を覆うものをご着用いただくようお願いいたします。
海外の一部の国では、マスクの着用は不要となっておりますが、国内線・国際線を含むJAL運航便をご利用の場合は、関係省庁の指針に基づき、引き続き、空港・航空機内では、マスクなどの着用をお願いいたします。
(※ワクチン接種後も引き続き、空港・航空機内では、マスクなどの着用をお願いいたします。)
(※マスクの着用が難しい場合には、フェイスシールドなどの着用も可とします。)
■Wearing Masks
To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious disease, and to help ease discomfort among customers, At airports and in aircraft cabin, please wear a face mask, etc. to cover your nose and mouth.
In some overseas countries, wearing a mask is no longer required. However, when using JAL flights, including domestic and international flights, please continue to wear a mask etc. in airports and aircraft in accordance with the guidelines of relevant ministries and agencies.
(*Please continue to wear a mask at the airport and in aircraft cabin even after vaccination.)
