Unfortunately, I can confirm that the elevators aren’t “having problems.” They’ve always been loud through the times when I’ve stayed here.
I recommend requesting a corner room. I find the -22 rooms to be very quiet. And they actually are larger than the average king room and have spacious bathrooms with big walk-in showers. Downside is they are city view instead of bay view. Meanwhile, the -11 rooms are absolutely deafening! You can hear the elevators even with the earplugs in that they put on every nightstand. This goes for any of the rooms that you have to walk around behind the elevators to access (you’ll know what I mean if you are assigned one of these).
Last time I was checking in I got a trainee or something who tried to assign me to 3211! Which, if you don’t know, is not only an -11 room which means it has the absolute most elevator noise, but this one in particular also shares a wall with the Grand Club and is right next to the entrance! I waved over a more senior looking person and was promptly re-assigned to a corner room a couple floors down and received a drink chit for my trouble haha. So, no complaints here!
Also, supposedly the higher floors have more elevator noise than the lower floors. But I can’t confirm this firsthand since as a Glob I’ve always been given a room on 25 or above.
EDIT: I’ve now confused myself and can’t actually remember if the loud room I talk about above is a -11 or -12. But, if you get assigned the one I’m talking about, it’ll be easy to know since you’ll feel like you are walking fully around and behind the elevators to get to them. You’ll know it when you experience it!
