I have attempted to redeem a gift card this month at three different Marriott properties in Malaysia without success. At the JW Marriott in Kuala Lumpur, the system wasn't working. At the Courtyard in Penang, the property has submitted an application for gift card services, but does not expect approval before June. At the Aloft in Langkawi, the property does not participate in the gift card program. I submitted a written concern to Marriott online which was forwarded to a property for a response within five business days. No response. I have called Associates at the Titanium Service Call Centre and the Gift Card Service Line via long distance. I have had a ticket opened on one matter with no conclusion. I can't think of another business that knowingly sells gift cards that are not redeemable by many of their merchants. If you are considering the purchase of a gift card, think again. You will be out of pocket for the gift card purchase and your stays will be charged to your credit card. Exasperated!
