I had this happen once when a flight was cancelled due to a snow storm and was amazed how easily and generously they were willing to cancel last minute in spite of the cancellation terms (which is one of the many times Hyatt exceeded my expectations and which in turn has made me loyal to Hyatt). You can also try seeing if they would alternatively let you reschedule for later if you plan on returning since at least historically the cancellation deadline applies more to cancellations and not so much for rescheduling (though it can be a gray area).
