Call and ask. Not covid related but I was just past the 72 hour cancel policy on a 1 night stay but had to get some dental work done that would have knocked me out for a few days. Between the consultation and surgery I called the property and they cancelled no problem. Mind you it was just a 1 night stay at a suburban Hyatt place so they may not be as accommodating at a resort but it's worth a call especially with status.
