Why would anyone think they wouldn't make their connection. Absolutely makes no sense. The scheduled connection time was 0:52 and the inbound was on time. 0:52 D-D mainline at CLT happens 365 days a year.
Let me also add: after reading the original post, I'm convinced the AA gate agents knew they done goofed. Since when are AA passengers
ever given hotel vouchers unless its a major airline goof? That action alone has "guilty" stamped all over it.
