Fog shouldn’t/won’t be a problem during the late afternoon/evening hours. Biggest worry would be a rain system coming through if this is a flight during winter, but you can see those coming from a couple days out.
It's not the immediate delay that's the issue. It's the rolling delays which affect the sfo schedule the rest of the day. It's also not just winter weather causing sfo delays.
