The residences are pretty nice condo units, with the best ones being ocean view corner 2-bedroom units in the main condo building next to Sweetgrass Inn - these have wraparound balconies. Full resort benefits are extended to these rooms, with housekeeping, daily breakfast, valet parking, etc. Coastal Provisions at Boardwalk Inn is great for breakfast, and has wonderful staff - lunch and dinner are also tasty, but not worth the price tag in my opinion. There are some more casual options at the property, otherwise, it could be a 20-30 min drive to restaurants off the island.
Agree with all of this from our stay early last summer, though our 1-bedroom unit in the Residences at Sweetgrass doesn't sound as nice as the two bedrooms you're describing -- the ocean view was very peekaboo at best. Coastal Provisions was great for Globalist breakfast especially eating outside on the patio, Beachside Burgers was worth going just for the view (right off the beach), but most of our non-breakfast meals we ate off property once we discovered Acme Lowcountry Kitchen (10 minute drive but still on the island), which we absolutely LOVED and went back multiple times. Took some convincing to remove the resort charge at checkout (since they had never heard of a Globalist before even though they had a WOH placard on the counter), but they did in the end after escalating to a manager. I suppose in their defense, they had just relatively recently started participated in WOH and I got the sense they hadn't gotten many WOH guests yet.
