This is a wonderful report! Years ago, when I was your age, I spent several weeks traveling behind the Iron Curtain -- a wild, wild adventure in all sorts of ways -- but your trip scores way higher than mine on the "adventure" scale. The checkpoints sound pretty iffy already and I think you were quite right not even to think of giving them a try with no passport. I wonder how much that Tower of Money was worth?
