Change seat PE to Y and tight connection at HEL
I will be taking JL47 from Haneda to Helsinki in a few weeks together with my wife. We are on separate tickets and in different classes (premium economy and normal economy). We were supposed to go on different dates from the beginning but had to change it. If I want to sit with her in economy, how would you do it? Ask at check-in in Haneda, at the gate or the cabin attendants?
53 out of 116 economy seats are currently occupied and about 100 people are on the whole plane (787-9).
In Helsinki we will transfer to AY801 to Stockholm that leaves 07:45. JL47 is scheduled to arrive 07:00 but according to Flightaware data it is on average around 30 mins early. Anyone who made the connection recently? Will AY801 wait for us? They start boarding at 07:05.
Finnair Singapore and Bangkok flights arrive around 6 so the security check and border control should be quite empty when JAL arrives I guess. Both JAL and Finnair flights are on the same ticket (not code share), mine is bought directly from JAL and the other directly from Finnair.
What happens if we miss the connection? Is it our own fault then? JL47 will most likely not arrive late, but if it arrives say 6:57 it might be tight.
Yesterday it seems that AY801 used gate 31 which is directly outside the passport control and JAL arrived at gate 43 which is quite close to the security. But today they used gate 20 which is very far away and gate 47 which also is a bit further away as well.
I haven't been flying since Corona started, but I remember many years ago that I several times made 40 min connection at HEL but on the way TO Japan, then its only passport control which is very fast thanks to the biometric scanners.
