Lots of new distances left unknown though. We've got a lot of the big domestic routes and some of the main Canada-international ones (e.g. Canadian hubs to LHR all good, and YYC/YYZ-FRA, but no YUL/YVR-FRA), but tons of routes still not updated.
One could argue we don't really "need" any of them, since the haversine formula will generate a pretty close result, but there's some value in having the 100% accurate data since some FTers like to cut it close, and because AC almost always credits less than the haversine formula suggests it should (and even credits less than the old Aeroplan program), and with a bunch of flights, the 3 miles there, 5 miles here, and so on, can add up to missing out on that 50 miles that means the difference between making a status or a threshold gift/eUp or whatever.
