However, if you pay for a club level room you will get amazing service and an amazing room -- yes it's not cheap -- but nothing in Tokyo is and the service / location / quality of the property is as good as it gets for Tokyo.... The gym is amazing, the food is as good as it gets, and the service is solid -- this is one place where you can't pay a Marriott rate and get RC level quality -- you have to pay for it....
Thanks for this. I actually reserved a club room with points (70K for the base room, plus about 63K for club upgrade for that particular day), as I'm probably going to cancel my Bonvoy card (annual fee is too high for the benefits I get from it), and this seemed like as good a use of points as any.
Agreed that the club lounge is stupendous, but I do have a bit of a sour experience from my last stay with them back in 2014. Check-in is 15:00, but you are allowed to request early check-in, and when we were arrived around 13:00 we were allowed to check-in at the club lounge. BUT my kid was stopped from getting any refreshments from the presentation, and we were explicitly forbidden from partaking in anything from it until 15:00. I've never experienced anything like that anywhere else before or since (including Ritz Carlton Osaka).
The staff all seemed much nicer and helpful throughout the rest of the stay, so I'm wondering if that was an anamoly. I guess I'll find out this time, as I'm certainly not waiting around until 15:00 to get there.
