Personally, I tend to take the train and tube, since it almost always seems to take me 100 minutes. There isn't a single correct answer, it's essentially a trade off between risk and comfort, and we will all calibrate that slightly differently. I would be fully comfortable with a 4 hour connection, particularly on a single ticket since the worst that can happen is that you have to go on a later flight.
