Vancouver is fantastic. I've never been to whistler in the summer, but quick bus ride from vancouver and the westin is in the middle of the village. If there's a good summer scene there, i'd consider adding that for a day or two.
I would have chosen montreal over toronto. Montreal is more distinctive in terms of food and ambiance (poutine, smoked meat sandwiches, if it's still there au pied de cochon). Also downtown core to me felt much more compact and walkable. Toronto (to me at least) differentiates itself much less from any other big city in north america.
That being said if your goal is to hotel hop, toronto definitely has more options. The W is (or was) the place to go in Montreal. One of the better instances of a W with a high quality hard product and not as quite over the top W vibe.
Also agree about going from vancouver to toronto or montreal kills almost an entire day with travel.
