Mine seems to have a 50% success rate, border agents have said my passport is read very slowly by the machine, which may indicate a problem with the chip. They suggested pressing down very hard on the passport when in the machine, although I'm not sure if it helps!

Tempted to get a replacement passport, but reluctant as it's less than a year old.
