Assuming you are connecting AA to AA, there is a small chance you will make that connection. Customs & immigration are typically pretty quick at DFW Terminal A (which is where all AA int'l flights arrive). Once you drop off your bags at the AA bag recheck counter just outside of customs you proceed upstairs and are right at a security checkpoint to go back airside (at approximately gate A37). All of the AA terminals are connected by a tram inside security and also walkways. Note that unless you are a very slow walker it is almost always better to walk and NOT take the tram.

Insiders tip - because the checkpoint lines at A37 can be longer than others because of all the int'l connects re-clearing there if your connecting flight is departing from one of the more northerly A gates (A1 - A30, give or take) in Terminal A, you can sometimes save time by walking north through the ticket lobby/bag claim areas to the next checkpoint before going through security.

I have almost always gone from plane's arrival to out the terminal door in less than 30 minutes (US citizen, with carry on only) when arriving int'l at DFW, so I am willing to say you at least stand a chance with a 60 minute connection. But it will be tight. Give yourself 85 minutes and I'd say no problem.
