The OP asked about J, so my comment was about J. Is it worth it? That depends on how you value things. In my books a saver J award NYC-PTY is well worth it. 2200 miles ... almost the same as NYC-LAX. I found CM J to be quite good and better than UA on seat, food, drinks and service.
