What are the SDFC options for an EXP on a web special award ticket? Anyone have any knowledge or experience? Thanks

I asked a rep on this via chat and she said it was permitted, only noting an exception about first/business class fares and situations in which 500 mile upgrades are allowed.

I’ve read elsewhere here that SDFC’s may only be possible after an upgrade request has cleared if you call in and ask it to be removed. Is that the correct procedure?
