The customer (OP) is in the right based on his description, and the bartender is in the wrong and needs to be fired. It's really that simple. The employee is ripe and easily replaceable.

Re-read my post. There's absolutely nothing wrong with asserting dominance after being mishandled and humiliated by the employee in front of other guests. If they're going to provide dog sh*t service to you, you're a fool to treat them with kindness in return.

If you are an entitled customer who "asserts dominance" over service employees regularly, that would explain why you may not get the most helpful friendly service.
