1 hr 30 is doable but tight. . You will need to clear immigration collect your bags clear customs and put them on the baggage recheck belt after customs ( you do not have to go to the main check in desks as the bags are tagged through)
at lax tbit there will be a security checkpoint after customs for connecting pax.

Travelling hbo will save a few minutes at baggage reclaim.

On one ticket aa will protect you on the LAX hnl flight but the next available flight might nmighave buidmess/first seats available so you may have to wait if you want buisness/ first to hnl
