Agreed. The landside transfer would be an opportunity to get some fresh air but there have been periodic reports of long security waits recently at LGA. FWIW, I entered terminal C late morning this past Thursday and Clear had zero line, PreCheck had ~15 people, and both PreCheck scanners were in use so it probably would have moved quickly.
I couldn't get on standby for an earlier flight, so I took the shuttle to D, and whoa, that ramp up from the shuttle was endless!
In a classic YMMV situation, I was in Terminal C at mid-morning yesterday and security was an absolute disaster. They won't separate the Precheck and standard security lines when standard security spills out of the queue, so there's a single line that's filtered at the entrance to security. The Precheck line was half-empty, yet the line stretched all the way down the terminal because they wouldn't let people with Precheck in before they got to the front of the line with everyone else. Just unbelievable stupidity. The new headhouse can't come soon enough.
