For the first time ever (!!) I got a Plat welcome today on TLL- HEL ATR ride. this has never ever happened before, and I have hundreds of flights HEL-TLL-HEL over the years.
It was just a very quick "welcome back" as they were checking the cabin for departure but I´m still amazed.
I would say that all the talk about plat welcome talk being discontinued in another thread can be forgotten, it is very much still there.
first time ever, after 100s of flights, getting finally a plat welcome is data points for the plat greeting not being there.
im sat on J currently and no plat welcome. It was outsourced again to the routine cabin announcement “we also welcome our Finnair plus frequent fliers onboard.”
there’s a high correlation between getting the plat talk and the rest of the flight being memorable and good. In my experience c. 25% crews are good and the rest are “meh” or even actively cold.
