Thanks for the replies. My bag is just an inch taller than the restrictions, but from what I've seen bags would have to fit in sideways anyways. What are the chances of the gate agent noticing/measuring my bag, and if it is indeed found to be an inch too large would I typically have to pay for the $100+ checked baggage fee (as I would've already used my two free checked bags quota).
