Yes, just stayed at the Kimpton recently. We liked the location - it's right in the Warehouse district and a 10-15 min walk from the French quarter and all it's craziness. Maybe a 20 min walk to the start of the Garden district. But the best part about the hotel was the bicycles in the lobby that you can rent for free. We took them out twice during our five days in New Orleans and they really improved our stay as we enjoyed cycling through the Garden district and to Marigny and Bywater and to the City Park, something we may not have thought to do otherwise! There are only two bicycles for some 179 rooms but we saw them available every day for the five days we were there except maybe for a morning or two and had no trouble checking them out. The hotel shows a surprising amount of wear and tear for what is I think a 1-2 yr old property, but nothing that put us off. As IHG Plat, they upgraded us to 1 br Suite which was nice. Staff seems attentive apart from one stand-offish check-in clerk, but we didn't ask for much.
This hotel and the IC and St James and the French Quarter Indigo are all within 1-2 blocks of each other. As are the Eliza Janes and the Cambria Downtown Warehouse District if you are willing to consider other chains.
The points value of this hotel was terrific relative to the cash rates, especially with the 4th night free if you have the IHG credit card.
Overall, we'd recommend it.
