So unless C1 stays more conservative compared to AmEx in handing out VentureX cards, i envision the lounge crowding issues happening with C1 also in a couple of years. I guess we should all just enjoy it while it lasts and in a few years we can talk about the "good old days of C1"
Yep, also much easier to understand the benefits of the Venture X card relative to the annual fee whereas the myriad of decent-to-coupony benefits at Amex (varies by benefit and person) can be difficult.

Venture X: $395 annual fee that gives you $400 back on travel ($300 through C1 Travel and 10k miles for another $100 on any travel purchase) plus double miles on all purchases as well as 5-10x on C1 Travel plus lounge access for you + 2.

Amex Plat: $695 annual fee that gives you $200 back on Uber as long as it is used monthly; $240 on select entertainment as long as it is used monthly; $100 back at Saks as $50 every 6 months but good luck finding something worth it that isn't just clearance socks/underwear that is still 3x what you'd pay for those items normally; $200 at airlines but not airfare, just incidentals but only some incidentals and only one airline; $200 back at some hotels but unless you stay at luxury hotels regularly, good luck finding somewhere to use the credit where it isn't just a coupon; etc. Earn 1 point per dollar except airfare which gets you 5x. You get lounge access at a bunch of places, but some is based on the airline you are flying, some give you 2 guests, but there are lounges where only the cardholder gets free access, but if you spend $75k on your card in a year, some of those lounges where you only get in solo will let you bring guests but not all of them. Oh, and your Priority Pass card is not as good as any other issuer's card as you don't get access to Priority Pass restaurants, despite it looking exactly the same as any other PP Select card.

I get enough benefits out of the Amex Plat and don't mind navigating through it, but C1 has a much better value prop to those who don't want to regularly think about the card.
