Time and popularity are rarely kind to many travel perks and benefits. Each companies' goal is to grow their business as big as possible. An unfortunate side effect is when the business has grown disproportionately larger than the lounges have. Unfortunately, in this "solve" it's the consumer who gets to take the brunt of it. The popularity of the overall product gives the company more power to make a decision more favorable to themselves. This is why my position is the juice not being worth the squeeze.
As much as I enjoyed the C1-DFW, that's one of the things i'm worried about. The VentureX has a much lower breakeven point that Amex Plat so holding a VentureX is a no-brainer for most of the folks who have the Plat card even marginally for its travel benefits. So unless C1 stays more conservative compared to AmEx in handing out VentureX cards, i envision the lounge crowding issues happening with C1 also in a couple of years. I guess we should all just enjoy it while it lasts and in a few years we can talk about the "good old days of C1"
