To be honest, the joint-venture partners ( AA, UA, BA, VS ) are charging a very high premium for ex-London direct flights so a massive detour on a cash ticket could save up to 50%.
The same is with ex-IST where BA, LOT and LH are usually the half price or at least 30% cheaper than TK. You give up from convenience but you travel for a cheaper price.
