Voluntary downgrade from F to J

I just booked JFK-LHR-DXB return flights in F, which was significantly cheaper than J. On the last leg (LHR-JFK), my partner is on the same flight in J (using AA miles). Can I voluntarily downgrade to J to sit with her?
