I can confirm that in 2021, KL crew often enforced mask wearing for paying pax (*), sometimes even quite rudely so.
(*) Emphasis added on the paying part after a SIN - AMS I won't forget. On this fairly long route, on an empty cabin (most 777 Y rows only had 2 or 3 pax), one of the FA was playing Mask Police all flight long, even while sleeping. Fair enough, even though plenty of distancing was available, rules are rules. Everyone obliged.
Yet this same FA literally spent hours chatting loudly with one of the pax that she took to Eco Comfort after take-off. Somehow, this gentleman was allowed not to wear his mask a single minute until deplaning.
