I can select seats on the Delta segments but not on the AF legs. I also tried on Air France's website and I can select seats, but AF wants me to pay for seat selection! FYI, I have no status on DL or Skyteam. Is that what's going on? Should I hope that there's a window seat available for me at checkin? Can I get seats assigned prior to checkin?

Would greatly appreciate any helpful pointers.
Some non-US airlines charge for advanced seat assignments.
