(a) Yes, both use the same, non-Schengen section of Terminal 1

(b) Technically yes, now that security is at the gate, rather than in the main terminal - just follow the signs for Satellite 3 which SQ usually uses. However, be warned that airside at CDG terminal 1 really is a concrete dump - there is virtually no seating before security, and minimal catering facilities airside either - it's be like sitting in a corridor for an hour.

You're better off exiting customs and waiting in a cafe in basement level 2 (from where you pick up the shuttle bus to the RER station - tell your friends to follow signs for Paris by Rail) and/or blagging your way an airline lounge.
