If you have no loyalty status, no account activity for 12 months, and there are no exceptional extensions such as for a pandemic, your points will expire.
I have not done anything since my 2020 reservation was cancelled and my points are still there a year and a half later.

Oh that might be it. My status is Club, which appears to be no status. My credit card has been closed for at least 5 years.
When I called, the guy told me that my points would expire after 12 months of inactivity. I asked him for an exact date and he said Dec 31 2022.
