I think the reason most people do shorter trips to NYC is because it’s close, relative long haul, and because the hotels are often very expensive, especially with the trend to destination (or resort) charges. I’d stick with the original plan, although Boston hotels are also toppy on price. I’d put no one off Boston, but had it been me I’d have considered Washington DC as a tag on, it’s a fabulous place, with much to see.
I’d definitely stick to a two destination break, it’s great to see more, and it feels more full on and action packed when you’re time constrained.
Thank you for the advice. I noticed the hotel prices in Boston were very high. A colleague recommended DC too. Is it a “walkable” place? I am not keen on renting a car. This was the advantage of Chicago and I guess New York and Boston too. I think it would be easy enough to change the return flight to DC - there are currently no charges to amending an Avios booking.
