An update: Sent a message to Air France and heard back. They said to talk to Delta about it. Lo and behold, now on the Delta app or website, I can select the "SeatPlus" seats for free. Thanks to all. Now I just have to decide if it is worth sitting in row 45 on the A350 to get the side-by-side seats, albeit in the last row, or keep the aisle-aisle seats that I have.
