Booked two round trip Saver tickets with Alaska Air without seat selection (first time flying with them). I'm sorry that your first experience with AS is not going more smoothly. It's usually a pretty good airline.
Can I ask where you are flying? That difference between saver and main is huge; it usually tops out at $40 or $50 per direction (usually less on shorter flights) but on connecting flights it can sometimes (not always) be applied per segment.
