Whilst technically you aren’t allowed to bring food on board, if you don’t subscribe to the cannot-lah mentality and are discrete this isn’t a problem. No smelly or hot foods, and don’t bring your food out when they’re taking orders and serving meals to the rest of the cabin.

We’ve travelled Scoot between SIN and MEL a few times and use snap lock (or ziplock) bags and have at various times taken on board sandwiches, pastries or cakes and cut fruit (a little bit of lemon juice helps keep things like cut apples and bananas stay fresh) as well as small prepackaged foods like nuts, crisps, chocolate etc. Also we take an empty drink container to fill with water once through security (or in LGW you could purchase beverages airside, can’t do this in SIN where gate based security).

I don’t like Scoot economy seats, very cramped, headrest not adjustable, and unfortunately the LGW service is only using the 788, which doesn’t have the Super Seats (30% more legroom, adjustable headrests) but it may be worth considering paying extra for Scoot In Silence which at least have adjustable headrests and in my experience tend to be emptier than the rest of the cabin as people don’t want to pay the surcharge for them (or alternatively exit rows are an option).

Lastly, bring a good book or a tablet/phone loaded with offline content for in flight entertainment. (Bear in mind if your device runs out of power have to pay to access power points to charge devices). Oh we also bring a small light blanket for overnight flights … either for warmth or extra cushioning…
