The Westin Paris is totally run down. Suites are in an unacceptable condition with doors missing, disgusting carpets and overages bathroom. At least they got rid of most of the unionised staff that was, in addition, totally unhelpful and rude. And I am saying that at a French person…
The renovation at the Marriott Paris Ambassador is quite well done. However, the reception staff is also rude there, and it’s probably the stingiest hotel when it comes to Elite Upgrades. I have always been upgraded just one category in this property, even if higher categories and suites are available and when enquirer, I got the answer “You should use SNA if you want a suite”… Alright, suites are not guaranteed but when they are wide open in the inventory…
On the opposite side, the two LC properties are absolutely lovely (Prince de Galles and Hotel de Berri, with a preference for the PdG) and I am
always treated there like Royalty, almost always scoring a proper suite without SNA, and comped in room breakfast as a Plat+ benefit
Last time I even got a suite with a nice terrace at the PdG, my usual being a Macassar Suite decorated by Pierre-Yves Rochon
The Renaissance properties are also far superior than the Marriott.
