Are you primarily concerned about earning lots of MQDs based on distance? MQMs on close partners generally don't differ much unless it's an obscure difference in fare class bonuses, IIRC such as some PE fares earning more than 100% but less than 150%. [There are also differences in whether award tickets are eligible to earn anything, but this doesn't seem to be the case of an award ticket, just a normal coach fare and a GUC upgrade to business class.]
