I would never stay 30-45+ minutes away from where I actually want to be for the sake of hopefully better status benefits. You'll get so much more out of staying in downtown St. Pete than out of the better breakfast or any upgrade at the GH. You'd be making a mistake adding over an hour of driving time a day when the HP has so much steps from the door.

edited to add: this article brings up a lot of great points and changes how I look at status https://milestomemories.com/paying-f...ime-we-use-it/
Thanks for the definitive answer. Really glad you were so clear about it! Makes the decision an easy one.

As for the link, that was a cool read too. It actually matches my thought process pretty well. I never book Hyatt for the sake of booking Hyatt...it's always my best option when I book it and I pretty much cost-benefit analyze the property choice each time so that I have just as many stays in select or no service hotels as I do full service. I would stay in a less convenient location if the benefits were worth it, but as you say in the case of GH, it is not. Thanks again!
