You can extend your companion certificate by booking any ticket with your certificate, and then cancelling it. This converts it to a Future Travel Voucher valid until September 2023. This technique is discussed in several threads, including this one:

The thread to which Steve referred me now seems to indicate that BA is no longer allowing companion tickets booked with a certificate to be cancelled and converted to a Future Travel Voucher with the date extended. I am not sure whether everything that applies to the British AmEx "2-4-1" vouchers also applies to the Chase BA Travel Together Cert - those seem different, for example being good on economy seats. My voucher currently expires May 31 and I'd really hate to waste it. If in fact this hack of booking, cancelling and getting an extension does still work, great! Or it seems some people are getting their Avios and money back after cancelling - but without another companion cert? Thanks to everyone in advance for your patience with this question! Judy
