What happens? Are my bags tagged by BA and i just drop them off at an AA counter.. or will they say you have too many bags and i have to then pay for the bags for the final leg of the flight?

Thanks!
Assuming that this is a true connection on a single ticket, BA will check your bags through to LAX. You will claim them for Customs inspection at DFW, and then drop them at the re-check desk after Customs. (And FYI, the baggage allowance on your first flight carries over to your connecting flight, even when flying in a lower cabin.)
