No one is suggesting singing at the top of your lungs with balloons etc. It is just a little cake/cupcake celebration with a short song. It isn't a library...it is an airplane.
I have seen people get engaged on a plane with help from the FA or celebrating an anniversary (again with help from the FA over the PA system). A birthday is a part of life to be celebrated. If someone is that much of a scrooge or so uptight that they can't tolerate a 5 minute disruption on a 5 hour flight, it is their problem.
OP never said it would be just 5 minutes so why are you? If all they do is the song, then fine. But I’ve seen a lot of “it’s only going to be 5 minutes” celebrations that went on for an hour.

Sure, it
can be done. But will it? I have seen enough “celebrations” on flights that were close to getting out of hand (warning from the FA) that I have legitimate reasons to be concerned. Not saying it would happen in this case, but often enough that I give it a thumbs down.
As soon as they start the Barclays pitch, start the celebration.
OK, I could live with that! But only for 5 minutes 😏
