Monday 4/11 - Flight 809 PDX>OGG. Woke up with a very odd April snow accumulation of a couple inches at the airport. +/- T-2 hours got a notification that departure would be delayed 90 minutes (still at the hotel so I got an extra hour of sleep at least). Arrived at the airport and boarded the plane at 8:20AM, sat at the gate waiting for de-icing for 2.5 hours, pushed back and started to taxi, then pulled into another gate with an "engine light". Another 1.5 hours to fix that and we took off 4 hours after boarding - 5.5 hours after scheduled departure. 6 hour flight + 4 hours waiting made for a long day to say the least.
Upon landing I had a $100 off code in my email. Maybe I just worked in customer service related businesses for too long and/or am just happy that when things go wrong flying I'm still alive but I honestly don't expect anything. Stuff happens but that's super nice of AS. The pilot and crew were awesome. The pilot came out a couple times and walked down the aisle explaining to people what was going on and chatted/shared military stories with some pax. I suppose it also helped that I was in FC and had a bit of space to spread out.
