Clearly you're in the majority, but if all the group did was a little song at the beginning and then didn't create a riot and raucous the entire time, as long as they offered me a piece of cake I'd be all game. Once you invite someone to a party, assuming it's not a loud annoying party, even if they decline the invitation, they're a LOT more likely to see it as a positive and enjoy the fact that others are enjoying life rather than be a cabin... grump.
