Well that's not entirely true.
I can roam with VF and use as much data as I want and receive and make as many phone calls as I want all for $7 per day with daily roaming.
The convenience of that on a weekend trip to Australia for example far ourweights visiting a store, buying a SIM, topping it up and configuring it.
There is no one case fits all scenario for the best roaming solution - it comes down to determining the best solution for somebody's requirements.
Is also worth noting that from the end of the year there won't be voice roaming in the US for people using NZ providers due to the shutdown of 3G networks and the lack of VoLTE roaming.
