Tracking a lost item in real time
I left my iPad on the plane at OGG a couple of days ago. I think it slipped down between the seat and the sidewall, so I missed it when I packed up. Filed a lost item report. Managed to track down a number for the WS baggage office at OGG. They tried to be helpful, but didn't have it. Next day it dawned on me: try the Find My Device app on my iPhone. The iPad shows up moving along the highway towards Lahaina. Okay, so someone has it. It ends up at the Royal Lahaina Resort, so I go there, not really expecting much, but ... as expected, it's a very large building, can't pinpoint it. Next day it shows back at OGG, so I go there and actually made contact with the local agents. They have an iPad - its not mine. Again, they try to be helpful, the app shows it at a gate, they'll check when they get there. Later it shows somewhere over the North Pacific, so it's on a plane. Now it shows up at the Marriott Hotel in Richmond, near YVR. Again, a large building, not likely to find it.
I managed to confirm through a friend who has a contact at WS that they do use both Royal Lahaina Resort and the Marriott Hotel on occasion, so possibly it was picked up by a crew member? Hopefully they'll turn it in.
Stay tuned ...
