Haven't stayed here in many years but used to be a favorite San Francisco weekend getaway for us. Stay was a Saturday night and food options outside of the hotel have always been limited with most restaurants closed on the weekends. My daughter and toddler grandson were with me so I knew no suite upgrade would be possible when needing a room with 2 beds. Asked for a view of the Bay Bridge or Golden Gate bridge. Instead received a view of Drumm Street, 16th floor, and was told that was my Globalist upgrade (refurbished room). Front desk also mentioned that 4 floors were closed due to refurbishment. Parked at Embarcadero 1 (2 and 3 were closed) for $35 but no in/out privileges. Hyatt parking is $80.

Hoped to eat dinner at the hotel's restaurant for convenience sake but the menu is "lite bites" such as chicken wings, soup, salad, hamburgers. Front desk said a new menu should be in place by summer. Walked to the only place we could find open, Wayfarers Tavern, about 5 short blocks away. The food was very good but discovered it is not a place geared toward children, especially those needing a high chair! Sunday morning Hyatt breakfast buffet was appreciated, as most Hyatts I've been to lately have not offered anything much. Breakfast items were basic but there was a cook making eggs. $33 pp if you are paying. Tasty but I wouldn't pay $33 pp; the grab and go market seemed to be very busy, with the buffet nearly empty.

Room was okay, nothing exciting, but new carpet and furniture, refrigerator, quiet, bathroom very small, bed hard IMO.

Positives: Front desk very friendly; requested microwave and crib which were promptly delivered. But the best news is the area around the hotel is now extremely clean and I did not see one person sleeping on the street. I stopped visiting San Francisco years ago (long before Covid) because the filth just was too much. We walked to the Sales Force Rooftop Garden and the entire walk spotlessly clean, same for Ferry Building and walk from Embarcadero One parking garage and above-mentioned restaurant (on Sacramento Street). So overall a pleasant stay. My daughter had been to the Union Square area (location of Grand Hyatt) a few weeks prior and said that area is still bad, not cleaned up. Because it's so close to the Tenderloin, wouldn't expect it to ever be as clean as the Financial District/Embarcadero is now.
