Sadly, from experience, I get the humor of this!

I arrive early just to get that experience, if the lounge is open and not super crowded. It's not a waste of time to me since I can settle in and get some work done, too.
The notion that if one's never missed a flight, then he/she has wasted too much time showing up early at the airport--this makes so much sense to me. But, I just can't seem to practice it, probably because from my early days, it had been drilled into me that "5 minutes early is on time." So, yeah. I prefer--not to suggest anyone else should--to show up early, settle, open up my laptop, relax and have a few drinks and, hopefully, a nice meal or snack. Even then, when knowing and having made the walk from the lounge to gate takes only, say, 10 minutes, I will still show up 5 minutes early.

Likewise. That's my preferred flight to NY too, and some kind of arrival lounge is one my "must haves" when considering flights. I'm hoping the SCs & ACs will reopen their showers soon, if they already haven't.
